After being reported missing for three days at Asankrangwa in the Wassa Amenfi West Municipality of the Western Region, the body of a baby boy who was nine months old and had been found dead has been identified.
At Asikafoabatem, a suburb of Asankrangwa, the dead body of Akua Ago was discovered in what is believed to have been a fishpond that had become stagnant.
The story was confirmed to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) by Mr. Joesph Ayimberh, the father of the deceased person. Mr. Joesph Ayimberh stated that he lived in Bremang with his wife (Rose), as well as his siblings.
He stated that on the Tuesday, October 4, 2022, his wife and their only daughter, Akua, traveled to Asankrangwa because it was a market day and they wanted to make some purchases.
Mr. Ayimberh stated that when his wife arrived in Asankrangwa, she handed her daughter over to a 13-year-old girl that she had never met before and begged her to look after the deceased while she ran to the market to purchase some goods. The girl agreed to do as she was asked.
She left for a short while and then returned after a few minutes, at which point she realized that the strange woman and her daughter had vanished. She immediately began searching for them, but her efforts were fruitless.
"After that, my wife went to a radio station to ask for assistance in locating our daughter, and after that, she went to the Asankrangwa Divisional Police Command to file a complaint," Mr. Ayimberh explained. "Our daughter had been missing for quite some time."
On Thursday, October 6, 2022, one Mr. Abdul Aziz, who had been contacted by some people to weed an area at Asikafoabatem, was attending nature's call when he saw the deceased person lying in a pond and subsequently informed both the assembly member and the police.
